Rehan Mudannayake is an award-winning film director, actor and writer, based in London. He stars as Shehan Soyza in Oscar-nominated director Deepa Mehta’s Netflix film Funny Boy, based on Shyam Selvadurai’s acclaimed novel, and distributed by Ava duVernay’s ARRAY Releasing. The film was nominated for 9 Canadian Screen Awards, taking home Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Score.

His most recent film as writer-director – So Long, Farewell – had its World Premiere at the 2024 Academy Award-qualifying Pan-African Film Festival in LA, followed by its International Premiere at the London Indian Film Festival, and its US East Coast Premiere at the Oscar and BAFTA-qualifying Rhode Island Film Festival. His previous films DIDI and The Red Mustang both played at multiple festivals across the globe, including Oscar-qualifiers Hollyshorts and TASVEER.

Mudannayake is a graduate of University College London (UCL), where he was a Chevening scholar.

He is represented by Creative Artists Management in the UK.
